Power Conditioners
Ultra-K/M (75K(i) - 225K(i))
|
Description
The Ultra-K/M is a medical grade power conditioner/isolation transformer for MRI/CT/PET/Linear Accelerator/X-Ray equipment. The Ultra-K/M conditions and isolates power protecting the medical imaging equipment from spikes, harmonics and ground noise thus ensuring clear and accurate image scans.
Three Phase Sizes: 75K(i), 112.5K(i), 150K(i), 225K(i)

- What is a K(i) Rating?
K(i) rating stands for instantaneous kVA. Most imaging and treatment equipment have a high inrush current when doing a scan or a treatment. Current may rise as high as 3 to 5 times the steady state current. Controlled Power Company designs their units to handle the high inrush current and rates them according to the maximum kVA of the equipment.
- How do I know I need a power conditioner for my imaging system?
In most cases if image scans are of poor quality or the equipment is not functioning properly on a frequent basis or even sporadic occurances, then the power going to the imaging equipment could be out of specification and may need a power conditioner.
- How does the Ultra-K/M Power Conditioner differ from other power conditioners?
The Ultra-K/M has many different features that set it apart from other power conditioners. #1)Low Output Impedance. The Ultra-K/M has a less than 2% output impedance. This gives the power conditioner a higher inrush capability which is common with imaging equipment. #2)Line noise and ground noise attenuation. Many power conditioners do not have high levels of ground and line noise attenuation. Because the Ultra-K/M Power Conditioner is triple shielded, the common mode(ground)noise attenuation is at 140dB; this is the highest in the industry. Also because of the leakage inductance of the transformer, there exists a high level of transverse mode noise attenuation: 120dB. #3)Isolation. Some power conditioners do not have any type of isolation. Isolation is critical in the protection of medical imaging equipment. With isolation, a new ground neutral reference is created, this isolates the equipment from ground noise that may be on a dirty ground in the facility.
- How does the Ultra-K/M Power Conditioner improve quality of image scans?
The Ultra-K/M protects the equipment from damaging electrical events such as ground noise and spikes. When the power going to the machine is clean and isolated, the imaging device will operate at it's optimum performance.
